Manipulation Under Anesthesia
Manipulation of the spine under anesthesia is the art, science and practice of the restoration of the function of bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. The overall objective is to relieve the patient's pain and disability and normalize joint motion and musculoskeletal function without incisional surgery. It provides a more aggressive approach to conditions non-responsive to conservative clinical management.
Spinal manipulation under anesthesia is indicated but not limited to the following conditions: 1. Acute strain/sprain with intractable muscle spasm. 2. Acute intractable torticollis. 3. Chronic fibrotic changes in the paravertebral musculature. 4. Chronic myofascitis 5. Chronic myositis 6. Chronic fibrosis (intra-articular, articular and peri-articular). 7. Non-responsive or static paravertebral muscular spasm. 8. Peridural fibrosis. 9. Failed surgical back syndrome. 10. Bulging disc. 11. Herniated disc. 12.
